Where are we today? – The incredible success of Age of Chivalry

This time all Screenshots feature aoc_pathfinder, a work in progress map set to release with CR3

Today Age of Chivalry has emerged as one of the most popular and well received mods in recent history. We actively have hundreds of players in-game at any one time and according to steam stats our numbers are on par with all games in the same genre. Oblivion, Mount and Blade and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic are all games that Age of Chivalry’s steam playercount often equals or outnumbers and that’s a great feeling for the team to be put on that level.

Not only that but it has been admitted by the developers of various popular MMO’s that they actually have their team playing our game during their lunch breaks for inspiration and that’s a huge compliment as well, it really shows how much we have accomplished as a team.

The game right now offers players an intense medieval combat experience that will force them to use a mix of reflexes and quick thinking to outwit, outdo and outclass their opponents to attain true glory on the battlefield. The combat system is setup so that a beginner will be able to achieve a mild amount of success with basic strategies, enough to stay interested but without a doubt a lot of the depth of the combat comes over time and when first playing you will die, a lot.

The biggest obstacle the game faces right now is that it has a relatively large learning curve. What is meant by this is that the game mechanics can be hard for a player who is used to point and click FPS games to understand. Getting a feel for the reach of your weapon is critical and comes only with practice. Also, it will help you immensely if you are able to grasp when which strikes are best to land in the various situations with your class and environment, again it comes with time but the key to enjoying Age of Chivalry is having a bit of patience. This is a minor downside of the game not having a single-player yet, as new players are forced to duke it out with experienced vets online before getting any practice in, but if you think your up for the challenge of learning the hard way, then Age of Chivalry today is a game that pulls no punches and offers a truly unique and immersive experience.

Recently Age of Chivalry became the first MOD to get stats integrated into the steam community for all players to view and compare against their friends. The stats display a huge variety of information to the player including not only K/D ratios, points per minute, successful parries and total time played, but also a complete and comprehensive breakdown of your success and experiences with each class in-game. This is another first for Team Chivalry and we believe there is a whole lot more envelope pushing to come.

The new map looks impressive, maybe the best looking map in AoC so far.

Oh yeah well obviously not counting the rampant mount and blade piracy.  :-\\ Is there an official tab on that somewhere on the internetz or do you know a bunch of lame-o's?   If you pirate a home grown game like mount and blade you should not count as a real person anyway.
